I've forgotten my password. Regarding sound, the Cinemaster audio decoder properties are accessed from Control Panel. I wonder if that is the problem? Which Windows OS versions does it run on? We got it from Best Buy and they only have a 30 day return policy. The other settings were all set by default anyway.

I did what Ian suggested and came upon a forum for Toshiba. I see the decoder pack for XP and Vista for sale at roxio, but they are cienplayer 2. The Cinemaster decoder I've got 4.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm afraid I'm not yet used to working in the SmartPlay editor so could you give me a bit more detail please? Its just my HD-DVD drive defoder lets me actually see the files on the disk, just says corrupt or using a fileformat it doesn't recognise.

Thanks again for your help, sorry to be such a newbie! BUT, one of the other posters suggested a media player program called VLC Media Player freeand a cineplayerr others had downloaded it and solved the problem, so I tried it. I moved onto Media Player Classic which is playing pretty much perfectly now.

Even if you do not get your money back they may let you exchange it for a different pafk. It is possible that your external dvd player was not a total plug and play. I would take it back to best buy and argue the issue. I'll try to get 4. What kind of sample files are you looking for?
