Pierce consistently writes compelling tales for children and collecyion adults that make the readers really care about the characters and the bigger picture of the world that they live in. You probably won't really get the story then. I can't wait to read more of her stories. New York City, in the present day. Overall, I don't think this book is necessary to read at all, and I'd honestly skip it.

It would have been nice to see more of the developing relationship between the two characters, and of the world around them. Many of the main characters are still female, but that is not the purpose of these stories, these stories take characters who are not centralized and puts them in a more center position.

It was written well, and the characterization was solid and interesting, but it never really engaged me.
